Dear Anju,
Internships enhances the knowledge of wet and dry labs.
Training or internship in the field of Biotechnology will definately give you an hands-on-experience to handle various research projects and this experience will be very very useful when you apply for research positions.
You can apply to some of the research institutes, select the faculty member in whose work you are interested in, and then write to them about your interest in their field of research and then try to join their lab for internship. This way you will be having hands-on-experience which will help you in your future.
You can also try to apply for the VSRP fellowships offered by TIFR, Mumbai. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) conducts annual summer programmes in which talented students are introduced to research activities in the areas of Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics.

The selected students are expected to work on a research project under the supervision of a TIFR researcher.

The programmes are held both at the Mumbai campus of the TIFR as well as at the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune during mid May to early July each year.
Our government also provides an internship program for 6 months through BCIL(biotech consortium of India limited), so you can apply for that too.
Some of the other places that you can apply for internship are:

  1. Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore
  2. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Center For Biomedical Research (ACBR), Delhi
  3. Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS)
  4. Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati
  5. Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi
  6. You can apply to any f the IISERs
  7. National Network for Mathematical and Computational Biology (NNMCB), Pune

All the Best!
