PhD is the highest level of academic degree a person can achieve. You can do PhD from a lot of research institutes in India. You have to qualify some entrance exams like CSIR NET. It is is the national level exam conducted by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research to check the eligibility of the candidates to apply for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Lectureship (LS). Some other exams are JGBEEBILS, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF
After Clearing CSIR you can apply at some of these places:
